At this year’s Optatec in Frankfurt, May 15th - 17th, SCHOTT will present its new light illumination solution for stereo microscopy at booth C11. As part of the modular VisiLED series, the new VisiLED S40-75 is a high brightness and slim LED ringlight. SCHOTT will also present its new range of laser delivery solutions.

An extremely homogeneous and shadow free illumination is essential for achieving accurate results in stereo microscopy. The VisiLED series from SCHOTT offers LED illumination solutions specifically for stereo microscopy with new contrasting options. Specially selected LEDs ensure a smooth light progression of 0 to 100 percent.
The new VisiLED S40-75 enables a maximum brightness of 110 klx at 85mm. Its thin design with an outer diameter of 92 mm is optimally suited for unconfined object preparation and for usage with objective revolvers. In combination with the separately available polarization filter set, different illumination modes are possible as well as high power reserve for residual dirt analysis among others. The recommended working distance for the VisiLED S40-75 is 55-145 mm. The ringlight is compatible with 1.0x and 0.5x objectives of well-known suppliers.
Solutions for medical and diagnostics industries
The technology group will also feature its fiber optic solutions for laser delivery. Laser technology is employed in the medical field, for example in the area of surgery and dermatology when treating pigmentation marks or removing tattoos. However, the challenge remains in delivering accurate laser beams over comparably long or curved distances.
SCHOTT’s specialty glass components are able to emit the laser light exactly in the required intensity and uniformity – either laterally along distinct parts of a flexible fiber, on a specific point or radially at the end of a fiber, or through an end emitting optical fiber rod.
With the help of specialty glass components, the solutions from SCHOTT are able to emit the laser light exactly in the required intensity and uniformity – either laterally along distinct parts of a flexible fiber, on a specific point or radially at the end of a fiber, or through an end emitting optical fiber rod. This allows for new design possibilities for complex laser delivery systems.
